We are so happy to announce that Alexis T. of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School is our 2009 Loft Girl.
We don’t give the Loft Girl award every year, but the Class of 2009 had several strong candidates. We knew that Alexis would be among them from the moment that we first met her! We love her kindness, her always-cheerful disposition, her helpfulness and her intelligence.
Alexis’s accomplishments are many and we know that her parents and teachers must be very proud indeed.

I asked all of the Loft Girl candidates to submit a brief bio and here, in part, is what Alexis wrote:
“Throughout high school I have worked hard academically with hopes of attending a top ranked pre-med school. To work towards this goal, this school year I was chosen as one of fifty seniors at Pioneer to be apart of the Health Sciences Program. Within the program, students work as volunteers at several local clinics and hospitals including the several University of Michigan Hospitals, St. Joseph Hospital, Urgent Care facilities, and at elementary schools as teacher’s assistants. My personal experiences of shadowing plastic surgeons at U of M Hospital as well as the Dermatology Unit and the Eye Clinic at the Veteran’s Hospital were mind-blowing amazing and have encouraged me to pursue one of these fields of medicine. “
In the fall, Alexis will be attending Wayne State as a pre-med student. She has also been signed by a local modeling agency (no surprise there – Alexis was also a finalist in the Senior Portrait Artists’ modeling competition) and we hope to see her in all of our favorite magazines one day soon.
We are pleased to offer Alexis an iTunes card, a gift card to be used at the store of her choice, and her first $100 worth of books at Wayne State.
Alexis, it has truly been a privilege to know and work with you this past year. We wish you every success in the future and we just know that you are destined for great things.
